Each year, past, present, and incoming district and senior leaders attend Rotary institutes to share information, build connections, and exchange ideas about Rotary International and The Rotary Foundation. The institutes usually meet for three to five days, and the program includes:
- An update on The Rotary Foundation and its programs.
- A report on our polio eradication efforts.
- A five-year forecast presented by a director or other Board representative
- An open forum where participants can make recommendations to the Board.
- Local and international speakers sharing information on relevant topics.
- A chance to network, reconnect with friends, and find inspiration for continuing your service and leadership in your community.
- Entertainment and social outings.
During Council on Legislation years, Rotary institutes also include a session for Council representatives and alternates and a general session for discussing Council proposals.

My wonderful Rotary Family across Africa,
It gives me the greatest pleasure to now extend a very warm welcome to all fellow Rotarians across Africa and around the world to another fascinating Rotary Institute in the city of Lusaka, Zambia.

Fellow Delegates,
Allow me to join RID Patrick Chisanga in welcoming all delegates to the 5th All Africa Rotary International Zone 22 Institute held in the Capital City of the Republic of Zambia, Lusaka.Each year, Past, Present and incoming District and Senior Rotary Leaders and Rotarians, spouses and Rotaractors congregate for the Institute, to have updates on the Rotary Foundation and its programs, receive reports on polio eradication efforts, receive a five-year forecast on Rotary programs, have an open forum where participants can make recommendation to Rotary and network with friends, making new acquaintances in the process and find inspiration for continuing our service and leadership in the community. And of course have fun and entertainment.
The Host Organizing Committee has laid out a robust programme which includes, learning, networking, entertainment and fellowship. I am sure each of us will find individual inspiration from the laid out programme to continue our service efforts in our communities.
Lusaka is waiting for you to explore. Find time to visit some of Lusaka’s tourism attractions. The Lusaka National Park, Kabwata Village, KK Chilenje Pre-Independence Home, National Museum, Kalimba Reptile Park, Lilayi Elephant Nursery.
And of course, do not neglect to spend money in any of our modern Shopping Malls dotted around Lusaka!! Welcome.
